9.5 High-Fat Structure and Gastric Emptying

Feline Fat-Based Metabolism (Fat-Based Metabolism)

Definition

A higher-fat food structure may slow Gastric Emptying Speed physiologically. This must be separated from pathological gastric motility disorder.

Fat slows gastric emptying through digestive timing and downstream handling. Slower is not automatically worse. Excessive slowing with vomiting shifts to boundary assessment.

Do not reduce Feline FBM to “fat slows stomach.” Backtrace returns to upstream food structure—not to high-fat diet slogans.

Control Variables
1. Upstream food structure

Fat dominance, physical form, ingredient state.

2. Gastric emptying speed

Physiological timing modulation.

3. Hair residence time

Linked delay effect on hair passage.

4. Fat processing rate

Fat Processing Rate downstream accommodation.

Causal Chain

upstream food structure (fat-structured timing)

physiological gastric emptying delay

hair residence time / entanglement probability

stool passage or regurgitation output

System Outputs

Occasional hairball vomiting vs frequent vomiting must be read as output frequency, not as proof that fat structure is inherently wrong.

Boundary

FBM = fat always slows stomach as pathology
