Feline Fat-Based Metabolism (Fat-Based Metabolism)
Feline FBM has a fixed reasoning order.
Judgment cannot jump from observable output to intervention. It cannot jump from an ingredient list to conclusion. It cannot jump from nutrient ratios to metabolic fit.
The order is: upstream food structure → control variables → mechanism → observable output backtrace.
Outputs are the entry for backtrace, not the root cause layer.
The reasoning order has four linked layers:
Substrate dominance, exogenous carbohydrate load, fat state, protein role, mineral structure, physical form, and ingredient state.
This is the upstream object. It is not interchangeable with a nutrient checklist.
Each system has its own control variables: primary energy substrate, insulin regulation state, fat processing rate, solute load per unit energy, water recovery position, sebum processing rate, and related mechanism variables.
Mechanism is how structure and control variables generate system state: energy scheduling, digestion and transport, water recovery, renal solute load, skin-sebum output, and gastric-hairball pathways.
Loose stool, constipation, hairball vomiting, greasy coat, urinary concentration, coat change, and obesity are read backward through mechanism and control variables to food structure.
All layers must remain under the feline carnivorous metabolic premise. Human, canine, or conventional pet-nutrition frames cannot replace species-specific structure reading.

When reasoning order is reversed, outputs are misread as root causes: loose stool as “sensitive stomach,” constipation as “not drinking enough,” urinary concentration as dehydration, greasy coat as “too oily,” coat change as vitamin deficiency, obesity as calories alone.
Those readings skip control variables and upstream food structure. They are invalid under Feline FBM.
observable output → direct intervention without backtrace
ingredient list → direct conclusion
nutrient completeness → metabolic fit
reverse order: treat output as upstream cause
brand, AAFCO, or user anecdote replaces mechanism reading
